Since the Super Bowl became the championship game of the NFL in 1967, the Lions are one of only four teams yet to qualify for a Super Bowl. are: the Houston Texans (established 2002), the Jacksonville Jaguars (established 1995), and the Cleveland Browns.In fact, in the last 53 years the Detroit Lions have only qualified for the playoffs nine times. Since the NFL expanded to 32 teams in 2002, the Lions are the only NFC team not to make the playoffs. The Lions have not had a winning season since 2000, and unless they win six straight to end this season, that streak will continue.
